Coastal week survival guide

Coastal week is upon us! Lets get all the important things in one place for you…

Sailing Instructions

The sailing instructions for both the race and the rally are online now via this link - a printed copy will also be provided in your skippers bag to be given at the registration this Thursday (24 Oct 2019). You can also view this via our App. We ask that you please pay extra attention to the safety rules.

Complete your entry

We’d much rather be finalising party planning this week than have to be phoning boats to chase crew and emergency details so would love your assistance in completing your entries! Please take a minute to check your entry is complete with:

- Crew List submitted - Upload Safety Certificate - Type in PHRF certificate number - At least 1x shore based emergency contact

- Boat photo & brief bio

Plan your winning strategy

Please join us TONIGHT (21 Oct 2019) for the 2nd Race Clinic- 7pm at RNZYS. PredictWind will give an overview of the long range forecast and then Dan Slater from The Watershed will give his take on what might make the winning formula for the race. More info online here.

Breakfast Bookings

Assemble your crew from 6.30am on race day for a special PIC Coastal Classic cooked buffet breakfast at the RNZYS - $22 per person. Bookings are essential and must be received by TOMORROW Tuesday 22nd October at the latest ccinfo@coastalclassic.co.nz

Thursday- the Race's eve

Registration from 5pm & Briefing at 7pm, RNZYS Ballroom

All boats must have a representative attend the registration and the race briefing from 7:00 - 7:30. We'd suggest getting to the club early as the queue to pick up your skippers pack will peak before the briefing. The bar will be open and if you ordered Zhik merchandise - this is where and when you pick it up.

Predict Wind Tracker

Please download the app on two phones, and test it now, if you haven't already. Full instructions on how to install and use the app are found here; Select yacht club: NZMYC; Race: Coastal Classic 2019. Any technical enquiries or issues, please email PredictWind at support@predictwind.com.

Media updates during the race

We'd love to feature your crew, your pictures, and your stories in our coverage. Send updates during the race to Kristine Horne 021871301, media@coastalclassic.co.nz or use #piccoastalclassic and tag @piccoastalclassic.

Smile for the camera

Our official photographers, Live Sail Die, will be on the start line, and our event partner Doyle Sails will endeavour to take a shot of every boat as a keepsake. Give them a wave, or a smile, or look really hard at work for the camera!

Spectators

The race start will be livestreamed via Facebook from 9:25 - 10:00am on Friday. Boats that finish during daylight are also likely to feature on livestreaming! Share this link with your family and friends www.facebook.com/piccoastalclassic or send them to our website www.coastalclassic.co.nz to view the tracker and feeds from our social media.

Parking

Crew parking at marinas is at a premium over Labour Weekend, and there will not be sufficient space for all PIC Coastal Classic crew at Westhaven. Please consider alternative transportation solutions such as carpooling or uber.

Sponsor Backstay Flags

In your skippers pack, there will be a PIC backstay flag that must be flown for the duration of the race.

Team Entries

You are invited to join forces with three other boats from your club to form a representative team. The top three performing boats rank your cumulative score against the rest, and this year we have another great Teams prize. Simply send your team details to ccinfo@coastalclassic.co.nz

Russell

The Duke Tavern is under new management and has just opened last week! New owners Lucy and Gary Best are excited to welcome you all and make it a memorable celebration site after the race – they’re in this for the long haul so lets support them and make this work!

There will be some licensing restrictions, but they will be serving food and drinks until at least 2am on Friday night / Saturday morning, and may serve food longer if there is demand. They’ll be open from 10am – midnight Saturday.

Prizegiving is at 7pm and the live band starts at 7:30.

More on Russell events HERE.

Recycling

While you are in Russell, Resilient Russell Charitable Trust volunteers will be on site to ensure your shipboard waste is placed in the correct bins located in the Tavern Car park. The bins on the wharf and those located around the town are for use by the general public and must not be used for waste from your boats.
