Meet Adrian Percival, our new Commodore, who has an impressive 20 Coastals under his belt.
Adrian’s 10-year NZMYC membership ignited his passion for multihulls, starting with co-ownership of Freedom, a turbo-ed Great Barrier Express under the Open 8.5 Multihull class rule. This vessel transformed his sailing experience, proving a daylight finish for the PIC Coastal Classic was possible (and we’re not talking Saturday morning daylight).
With offshore cruising in mind Adrian swapped to a simple, light, and fast Lavranos 44ft catamaran, called Lady Nada. While that meant he could spend more time in the islands, watching the PIC Coastal Classic from Fiji gave him serious FOMO. Such was his dedication to be part of this race, one year, he crossed the finish line in Russell from Fiji enroute to Opua customs and still made it to the legendary Saturday night party!
Off the water Adrian works as an Environmental Engineer.
2023 will see Adrian blasting up the coast on Lucifer, a red 8.5m trimaran.
