It’s hard to believe that in just three months the fleet will set sail from Auckland to Russell. But first, you need to ensure you, your boat and crew are prepared and what better way to do this than by attending our free clinics.
These clinics have been incredibly popular over the years, offering vital insights on boat prep, safety, weather conditions and those all-important tactics.
This year we’ve added a third clinic specifically geared towards crew, though skippers will also benefit from attending to ensure they meet their responsibilities. From essential drills to safety knowledge, this clinic covers it all.
Whether you're a seasoned sailor or embarking on your first coastal, don't miss out on the opportunity to learn from a panel of experts who will help you navigate New Zealand’s Great Race North.
Mark your calendars and join us at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron for the following clinics:
Essential Boat Prep and Safety:Tuesday 27 August 7.00 pm
Preparation is everything. Hear from our panel of race veterans on essential equipment and procedures, communications, safety drills, and sailing in the dark. Bring your questions and your crew mates.
Safety and Prep: Tuesday 24 September 6.30 pm
Our new clinic is specifically for crew members. While skippers are responsible for their boats and crew, its imperative crew members know their roles and are familiar with essential drills like Man Overboard (MOB) procedures. It’ll boost your knowledge and readiness for the race, including coastal and night sailing. Expect an interactive open forum with lots of group discussions, so come ready to dive in and share.
Forecast & Tactics: Monday 21 October 7.00pm
You’ll be treated to another night of great advice as Predictwind provides comprehensive insight into how to approach the race based on the predicted weather conditions. You’ll also gather valuable insights into potential winning strategies and tactics to consider.
Lock them in your diary. We look forward to seeing you there!
